Episode: Wizard's Tale II by Aegyodaydreamer

This is what happens when my place gets flooded. I get to read 2 and a half books in a day. So, after I finished Sarah Dessen's Lock and Key, I grabbed this and totally loved it. It still hasn't reached the Trese (by Budgette and Kajo), Popped (by Chinggay Labrador) or Alamat ng Gubat (by Bob Ong) levels of love but I still love this.

I love the world that was created to make me feel the otherworld. It's not in HD but its getting there. I guess it's coz the focus is more on making us feel the emotions thru the conversations. I suddenly remembered my Humanities teacher, I didn't like him, a lot! Anyway, the thing that I liked most about this is the manga feel to it. It has the secret, i drive myself crazy, somewhat hopeless and were not fit for each other love story between a super cool guy and a faster-than-a-kiss-ish girl (hmmm...or my sassy girl). Then it has the trial/tournament part which is almost always present in an action manga. The plot was very creative and entertaining. And I'm starting to sound like a person who does book critiques. Elkkkkk.

Part 2 is more of an adventure story for me. I didn't feel the love story much even if Yana was so into it. So into jealousy. He he he. I didn't feel Brylle much even during his POVs coz he's too mr. Mope-a-lot. His kasungitan/kasupladuhan was not as effective coz there's the mopiness or gloominess. Kinda like Yoon Shi Yoon in Prime minister and I. OMG! Prince Rouel from which time are you? Comic relief? Seriously, who says that? Wait, is he the same age as Yana? I forgot. He's probably ancientish.

I felt sad when they sent Clerion back to his people. I was like WTF! He did it to save the princess!! I like him. He's bad-good guy. I hope he shows up again.

So when is the next part going to be released? I wanna know what happened to Brylle. Was he dumbleodred? Or  is he just like Jack in Everbound? Or like ichigo undergoing special training?

If I were to rate this, it would be a 4/5. It would have given it a higher rating but a line from the story kept bugging me till the end, "she won't get hurt unless she's the real heiress".
I'm sure it's a typo but it distracted me. I even questioned my understanding of unless and even googled it hahaha. I don't know why that got to me. I'm no grammar police, duh, I can't be. I have lapses as well and I'm not good in spelling. Hehehe .

I'd you're a fan of everneath or the Iron Fey series, you might wanna check this series out.

Thanks for reading!

Episode: Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

This is my first Sarah Dessen book. I got this from Book Sale at Makati Cinema Square.  It was a really good find. I don't think this was really second hand. It looked more like a damaged copy. It had a pen line on one of the sides.

When I saw he synopsis at the back, I wasn't really sure if I wanted it. It seemed serious and I don't do serious much. I'm more into teen romance or dystopia or now adult alpha male romance.  But for the price, why not. And I'm glad I read it.

I liked the book coz it was easy to read.  It was about family. ruby's mom is crazy destructive and her sister was cold, at first. I would have put the book down and would have never finished it if Dessen wasn't good in making it relatable for me to keep me going. I honestly cannot relate but it was like I can feel what she feels without the weight. I'm really not comfortable with heavy family stuff and I'm glad this wasn't like that even thou it kinda is.

I also liked that it didn't have the snotty private school setting coz mean girls from rich people's schools are everywhere in YA already.  It was getting kinda boring.

But the best thing about this book is the lesson teaches us. Well, there are several. Like taking B vitamins is good for the body and too much coffee can cause neurosis. JK! My favorite would be family are the people who claim us. They can be friends, lovers even ex's and acquaintances. Cora said, we go though several families during our lifetime, and I totally like that thought.

Episode: Wizards Tale by Aegyodaydreamer

I have to admit, I didn't like this book when I started reading it. I'm not crazy about it still but it has given me some "throw-the-book-to-the-wall" kilig moments.

It's a story about Yana, a local version of Cinderella and a young wizard Brylle. Cinderella is  my favorite fairy tale which is why I liked this. This also kinda made me think of Cinder, the Iron Fey novels and an anime I can't for the life of me remember the title. Hahaha I love those books and remembering them while reading this is a good thing.

I liked how creatively the traveling from one world to another was done. It was funny. If you've been a fan of sci-fi, paranormal fiction, you've already read so many was to move from our world to another. From portals, to spells to being sucked by toilets. It's hard to think of something different. What I liked about this is that it focused on the characters experience.

I also liked the love story. There was an obvious attraction from the start but they won't acknowledge it nor admit. It's common but the thing I liked about it is that the love part has been present since the start and they were going about it too slow but it never became irritating. It was sweet. And the "I can give you a happier ending" did it for me.

So this isn't only a love story, which I why I picked it up (he he he). I was afraid I'd end up reading a boys over flowers gazillionth version. I liked the missing princess story and the adventures in the Otherworld. I just wish the Otherworld was built more. I liked that there were incantations and otherworlder language used. It made it more "this-isnt-just-a-love-story-with-a-tiny-witch-twist-to-make-it-different". It made the paranormal side of the story more  present and real.

At the beginning, I said I didn't like it at first. I didn't even think I'd be able to finish it coz of the voice of the main characters. Coz of the voice of the characters in the first few chapters, I thought Yana might be a trying hard pasosyal. It kinda messed with the characterization and the switch from Filipino to English was awkward, for me.  Same thing with Brylle. His Filipino was formal at times but it there are times that its kinda slang (I'm grasping at straws here on how to explain hahaha) then his English is formal as well. So I knew thought at first that he ,might be like those ancient wizards or maybe warlocks in Mortal instruments who don't physically age but are actually old. But honestly, most of that uncomfortable feeling I had at the beginning were mostly from the way English was inserted in thoughts and conversations. It didn't feel natural for me. It felt forced and awkward. So instead of making me connect more with the characters, I got lost. I'm not saying we should not mix them, if it's needed to show the full personality of the character why not. But that head scratching issue ended once the love love parts started (i love kilig parts seriously!)Or I just got used to it. He he he.

I liked Wizards Tale. It had a good mix of kilig moments, friendship, and adventure. I'll surely read part time 2.

Thanks for reading!

Episode: K8 by Jay Jimenez

I love local novels. I started out with Bob Ong books and summit media books. Then I got into supernatural stuff (spirit questors, kulam, soulmate) then books like Trese, Sky world and Naermyth. I've read them, loved then but have not shared my episodes with them. Why? I don't know but that will now change. I've decided to do reviews on local books that I'll be reading, and probably those I've already read. Like the rest of my reviews, they're my honest opinion.

K8 was a surprise . I never thought that it was a graphic novel and the world can be that built in just so many pages.

When I read the back cover , I immediately though of Marissa Meyer's the Little android so I knew I had to buy it. K8 is an android, a pleasure droid, categorized as a Tairan. A tairain is a being 75% - 100% machine. Unlike other pleasure droids, K8 has a glitch that cannot be repaired, she can think for herself.

It has the action one would expect in a graphic novel. K8 kicked ass. I was kinda disappointed with Bryan though. After they have gone to the hide out, it was like he'd gone weak. Kinda helpless.

Another thing I liked was in 125 pages, they were able to show us the world of K8. World building was not lacking. Although, I did get confused with the Tairans and Hambuns. Who and where are the hambuns? And are the tairans the dominating species now? I think I have to reread parts hahaha.

Another thing that I liked was the humor. K8 was kinda silly, I loved it.

There is only one thing, I think, that I didn't like, the size of the book. I would have liked it bigge . Hahahaha

Thanks for reading!

Episode: The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by holly black

Reading this as fun. It was kinda like a light version of Night World by L.J Smith. They never said soulmate anywhere in this book, but I think they were. Loveet!

Among the vampire books I've read since last year this is probably my favorite. Yeah, and just like my other favorite books, I can't write much about it. Hehehe

If you haven't read this, read, now! <3

Episode: to all the boys i've loved before by jenny han

When I read the summary, I thought it would be kinda like Deeper by Robin York. Like something awful was gonna happen to Lara Jean. Glad that didn't happen.  I'm too sick for things like that.

So after the letters got sent out, each guy she loved kinda made an appearance into her current life ( except 1). It was fun coz they are all different from each other. Peter was the jock. Josh was the boy next door. Lucas the pretty boy who turned out to be gay and McClaren the intellectual(?).
It was also fun coz it talked about family, siblings and keeping in touch with heritage. It showed how different siblings can be but still love each other. I knew Kitty was the one who did it! Ha!

I also liked the crazy peter-lara jean-josh-margot situation. But OmG! Why did it end like that??? I know, I know, Peter and LJ will get back together but since it was not written, I have these what ifs. Hahaha. But now I'm thinking about it, I love the way the ending was written. I like the what if's.

I like this novel coz it's light, easy to read, kilig, funny and super YA. And also coz it reminded me that I too wrote stuff about guys that were important to me. Kinda like a diary/scrapbook. I gave 2  guys their episodes (Hehehe) and 2 I burned.

Episode: One more Chance by Abbi Glines

Grant!!!!

So before Take a Chance, I was all for Grant and Harlow.  At Take a Chance, i was going "it's better to be with Harlow than with Nan". Then here at One more Chance, I was "OK so she's pregnant and she might die...of media exposure." Yeah, I was not feeling her much till she gave birth. I liked all the Grant parts but Harlow's, I liked the letters to Lila Kate. I guess I started to dislike her coz Grant thinks she's too good for him and the media thing also bugged me. But she was OK after the near death experience.

Nan! I love her here. She wasn't irritating and I loved her chapter. I hope Abbi makes a story on her and Major Hehehe

Grant!!! I love him.  I loved everything he did, everything he said, even his fears and tears. Super book boyfriend!

I loved Chance. So sad it had to end. Bye Grant.

Unless Abbi decides to kill Harlow in the middle of the wedding and there's a new Grant story. I know I'm being mean to Harlow. Sorry,I just want more of Grant Carter. Hehehe.
