Episode: Wizard's Tale II by Aegyodaydreamer

This is what happens when my place gets flooded. I get to read 2 and a half books in a day. So, after I finished Sarah Dessen's Lock and Key, I grabbed this and totally loved it. It still hasn't reached the Trese (by Budgette and Kajo), Popped (by Chinggay Labrador) or Alamat ng Gubat (by Bob Ong) levels of love but I still love this.

I love the world that was created to make me feel the otherworld. It's not in HD but its getting there. I guess it's coz the focus is more on making us feel the emotions thru the conversations. I suddenly remembered my Humanities teacher, I didn't like him, a lot! Anyway, the thing that I liked most about this is the manga feel to it. It has the secret, i drive myself crazy, somewhat hopeless and were not fit for each other love story between a super cool guy and a faster-than-a-kiss-ish girl (hmmm...or my sassy girl). Then it has the trial/tournament part which is almost always present in an action manga. The plot was very creative and entertaining. And I'm starting to sound like a person who does book critiques. Elkkkkk.

Part 2 is more of an adventure story for me. I didn't feel the love story much even if Yana was so into it. So into jealousy. He he he. I didn't feel Brylle much even during his POVs coz he's too mr. Mope-a-lot. His kasungitan/kasupladuhan was not as effective coz there's the mopiness or gloominess. Kinda like Yoon Shi Yoon in Prime minister and I. OMG! Prince Rouel from which time are you? Comic relief? Seriously, who says that? Wait, is he the same age as Yana? I forgot. He's probably ancientish.

I felt sad when they sent Clerion back to his people. I was like WTF! He did it to save the princess!! I like him. He's bad-good guy. I hope he shows up again.

So when is the next part going to be released? I wanna know what happened to Brylle. Was he dumbleodred? Or  is he just like Jack in Everbound? Or like ichigo undergoing special training?

If I were to rate this, it would be a 4/5. It would have given it a higher rating but a line from the story kept bugging me till the end, "she won't get hurt unless she's the real heiress".
I'm sure it's a typo but it distracted me. I even questioned my understanding of unless and even googled it hahaha. I don't know why that got to me. I'm no grammar police, duh, I can't be. I have lapses as well and I'm not good in spelling. Hehehe .

I'd you're a fan of everneath or the Iron Fey series, you might wanna check this series out.

Thanks for reading!

Episode: Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

This is my first Sarah Dessen book. I got this from Book Sale at Makati Cinema Square.  It was a really good find. I don't think this was really second hand. It looked more like a damaged copy. It had a pen line on one of the sides.

When I saw he synopsis at the back, I wasn't really sure if I wanted it. It seemed serious and I don't do serious much. I'm more into teen romance or dystopia or now adult alpha male romance.  But for the price, why not. And I'm glad I read it.

I liked the book coz it was easy to read.  It was about family. ruby's mom is crazy destructive and her sister was cold, at first. I would have put the book down and would have never finished it if Dessen wasn't good in making it relatable for me to keep me going. I honestly cannot relate but it was like I can feel what she feels without the weight. I'm really not comfortable with heavy family stuff and I'm glad this wasn't like that even thou it kinda is.

I also liked that it didn't have the snotty private school setting coz mean girls from rich people's schools are everywhere in YA already.  It was getting kinda boring.

But the best thing about this book is the lesson teaches us. Well, there are several. Like taking B vitamins is good for the body and too much coffee can cause neurosis. JK! My favorite would be family are the people who claim us. They can be friends, lovers even ex's and acquaintances. Cora said, we go though several families during our lifetime, and I totally like that thought.

Thanks for reading!

Episode: Wizards Tale by Aegyodaydreamer

I have to admit, I didn't like this book when I started reading it. I'm not crazy about it still but it has given me some "throw-the-book-to-the-wall" kilig moments.

It's a story about Yana, a local version of Cinderella and a young wizard Brylle. Cinderella is  my favorite fairy tale which is why I liked this. This also kinda made me think of Cinder, the Iron Fey novels and an anime I can't for the life of me remember the title. Hahaha I love those books and remembering them while reading this is a good thing.

I liked how creatively the traveling from one world to another was done. It was funny. If you've been a fan of sci-fi, paranormal fiction, you've already read so many was to move from our world to another. From portals, to spells to being sucked by toilets. It's hard to think of something different. What I liked about this is that it focused on the characters experience.

I also liked the love story. There was an obvious attraction from the start but they won't acknowledge it nor admit. It's common but the thing I liked about it is that the love part has been present since the start and they were going about it too slow but it never became irritating. It was sweet. And the "I can give you a happier ending" did it for me.

So this isn't only a love story, which I why I picked it up (he he he). I was afraid I'd end up reading a boys over flowers gazillionth version. I liked the missing princess story and the adventures in the Otherworld. I just wish the Otherworld was built more. I liked that there were incantations and otherworlder language used. It made it more "this-isnt-just-a-love-story-with-a-tiny-witch-twist-to-make-it-different". It made the paranormal side of the story more  present and real.

At the beginning, I said I didn't like it at first. I didn't even think I'd be able to finish it coz of the voice of the main characters. Coz of the voice of the characters in the first few chapters, I thought Yana might be a trying hard pasosyal. It kinda messed with the characterization and the switch from Filipino to English was awkward, for me.  Same thing with Brylle. His Filipino was formal at times but it there are times that its kinda slang (I'm grasping at straws here on how to explain hahaha) then his English is formal as well. So I knew thought at first that he ,might be like those ancient wizards or maybe warlocks in Mortal instruments who don't physically age but are actually old. But honestly, most of that uncomfortable feeling I had at the beginning were mostly from the way English was inserted in thoughts and conversations. It didn't feel natural for me. It felt forced and awkward. So instead of making me connect more with the characters, I got lost. I'm not saying we should not mix them, if it's needed to show the full personality of the character why not. But that head scratching issue ended once the love love parts started (i love kilig parts seriously!)Or I just got used to it. He he he.

I liked Wizards Tale. It had a good mix of kilig moments, friendship, and adventure. I'll surely read part time 2.

Thanks for reading!

Episode: K8 by Jay Jimenez

I love local novels. I started out with Bob Ong books and summit media books. Then I got into supernatural stuff (spirit questors, kulam, soulmate) then books like Trese, Sky world and Naermyth. I've read them, loved then but have not shared my episodes with them. Why? I don't know but that will now change. I've decided to do reviews on local books that I'll be reading, and probably those I've already read. Like the rest of my reviews, they're my honest opinion.

K8 was a surprise . I never thought that it was a graphic novel and the world can be that built in just so many pages.

When I read the back cover , I immediately though of Marissa Meyer's the Little android so I knew I had to buy it. K8 is an android, a pleasure droid, categorized as a Tairan. A tairain is a being 75% - 100% machine. Unlike other pleasure droids, K8 has a glitch that cannot be repaired, she can think for herself.

It has the action one would expect in a graphic novel. K8 kicked ass. I was kinda disappointed with Bryan though. After they have gone to the hide out, it was like he'd gone weak. Kinda helpless.

Another thing I liked was in 125 pages, they were able to show us the world of K8. World building was not lacking. Although, I did get confused with the Tairans and Hambuns. Who and where are the hambuns? And are the tairans the dominating species now? I think I have to reread parts hahaha.

Another thing that I liked was the humor. K8 was kinda silly, I loved it.

There is only one thing, I think, that I didn't like, the size of the book. I would have liked it bigge . Hahahaha

Thanks for reading!

Episode: The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by holly black

Reading this as fun. It was kinda like a light version of Night World by L.J Smith. They never said soulmate anywhere in this book, but I think they were. Loveet!

Among the vampire books I've read since last year this is probably my favorite. Yeah, and just like my other favorite books, I can't write much about it. Hehehe

If you haven't read this, read, now! <3

Episode: to all the boys i've loved before by jenny han

When I read the summary, I thought it would be kinda like Deeper by Robin York. Like something awful was gonna happen to Lara Jean. Glad that didn't happen.  I'm too sick for things like that.

So after the letters got sent out, each guy she loved kinda made an appearance into her current life ( except 1). It was fun coz they are all different from each other. Peter was the jock. Josh was the boy next door. Lucas the pretty boy who turned out to be gay and McClaren the intellectual(?).
It was also fun coz it talked about family, siblings and keeping in touch with heritage. It showed how different siblings can be but still love each other. I knew Kitty was the one who did it! Ha!

I also liked the crazy peter-lara jean-josh-margot situation. But OmG! Why did it end like that??? I know, I know, Peter and LJ will get back together but since it was not written, I have these what ifs. Hahaha. But now I'm thinking about it, I love the way the ending was written. I like the what if's.

I like this novel coz it's light, easy to read, kilig, funny and super YA. And also coz it reminded me that I too wrote stuff about guys that were important to me. Kinda like a diary/scrapbook. I gave 2  guys their episodes (Hehehe) and 2 I burned.

Episode: One more Chance by Abbi Glines

Grant!!!!

So before Take a Chance, I was all for Grant and Harlow.  At Take a Chance, i was going "it's better to be with Harlow than with Nan". Then here at One more Chance, I was "OK so she's pregnant and she might die...of media exposure." Yeah, I was not feeling her much till she gave birth. I liked all the Grant parts but Harlow's, I liked the letters to Lila Kate. I guess I started to dislike her coz Grant thinks she's too good for him and the media thing also bugged me. But she was OK after the near death experience.

Nan! I love her here. She wasn't irritating and I loved her chapter. I hope Abbi makes a story on her and Major Hehehe

Grant!!! I love him.  I loved everything he did, everything he said, even his fears and tears. Super book boyfriend!

I loved Chance. So sad it had to end. Bye Grant.

Unless Abbi decides to kill Harlow in the middle of the wedding and there's a new Grant story. I know I'm being mean to Harlow. Sorry,I just want more of Grant Carter. Hehehe.

Episode: Beautiful Oblivion

This is a story about one of the Maddox brothers.

Trent Maddox falls in love with Cami Camlin but she can't be with him. She has a boyfriend, TJ. Who's TJ???

Trent is like Travis.  They both go crazy when they are in love.  They're both intense. And they have both met their match.  But the girl already has a man. Who's TJ?

Trent and Cami's story is so much less crazy as compared to Travis and Abby. It's perhaps more adult I guess. There isn't much of driving each other insane and the uncontollable i-wanna-be-with-him/her. They were both trying to be responsible with their family and relationships. But who's TJ?

I have to stop. I've already mentioned TJ 3 times.  Why? Coz the entire time i was reading this all I can think about was "who's TJ?".  And why doesn't everybody know him if he's so hot? Why do i have yhe feelin that the only person qho knows he exist are Cami, her roomate Raegan and the staff at Red Door.  But it's like they only know his first name and gorgeous face. Hahaha I have to admit, it made me rush through the book. I seriously wanted to know who he was. So I'm sorry Trent and Cami knowing who he was got more of my attention than your story.

So yeah, this book was about one of the Maddox brothers. It was finding out who he was.

Thomas James Maddox.

Oh and after that he still had my attention coz of all the questions that I have on why people don't know him as a Maddox? When did he leave? Didn't he take care of Travis after their mom died? I remember reading that part. What happened???

I hope it comes out soon!!!! <3

The One

I love this series. This is one of my favorites that I've been able to finish easily. I kinda have this last book hurdle. I buy them but they end up in my TBR pile longer than others. months even. Why? 1) the allegiant trauma. That book gave me such a heartbreak I'm now always thinking the the others would bring me that. 2) I don't want the story to end. I don't want that world to close. 3) I honestly don't know. I just can't.

Anyway, most of the kings that happened in The One, weren't a surprise to me. I have been guessing what would happen and I was right. So happy!  I guessed that America would be the one (duh!), the kinder Celest and the Lucy and Ashton relationship, oh and Mason being king (another duh!). I didn't expect the deaths though. why did Celest have to die? And the dad! Those were sad.

But I hev to admit, I kinda thought I'd hate Ms. Cass at some point. I thought she'd extend it to one more book with the way Mason and America's relationship was going. Thank God she didn't, it would have driven me insane. Hahaha.

I think of this series as a modern fairytale. I love it to pieces. And again, I love the gown used in the cover!

His Kiss by Melanie Marks

No sex, no tounge acrobatics, just plain normal highschool break up and love but got my tummy in knots. I love it.

After read it, I kept saying "its so sweet!" And I'm pretty sure I was bushing.  Now I wanna have a boyfriend...hmmm,maybe. Hahaha

It's the story of Ally, her break up with her almost perfect boyfriend and her 3 minutes of heaven Griffin. Ally and Griffin are so cute. Aly had a huge crush on Griffin and he was already int her even before then but he just stayed away coz she keeps running away from him. I don't know if I like Maiden or not. He's like a dream boyfriend, sweet, sensitive but he's also so...ugh! Can't even think of the right term for him.

This is my first Melanie Marks novel, i'm pretty sure i'll be checking out the others.

Episode: Her Best friends 's brother by TJ Dell

This is a story about a girl crushing/falling in love on her bestfriend's brother and finding herself and about a boy who's supposed to be good wth words except when he's talking to the girl he loves.

This story starts off as just a love story. You know, a girl ikes a boy and he minght .ike her back but not really sure. Libby and Tony's love story is kinda frustrating, i mean this in a good way. They don't easily run into each others arms and live happily ever after. Tony tries to consider their age gap and gives Libby time to experience life on her own. Its good, right. Libby didn't get it though. Can't blame her. They were both not huge in explaining stuff, that what got this story frustrating. I was like "say something!!!". Another thing they touched on was life in college. We have friends, close friends but unlike highschool, we don't go throught the same path. We struggle in finding our own spot, what we are good at, what we love, what we would really wanna become.

Although, i'd have to say, i didn't like that "european adventure". I didn't feel it.  It kinda felt forced, rushed even.

This is a good, easy read. Perfect for those who love light reading especialy those in college.

Episode: After Math by Denise Grover Swank

This book was unputdownable. It gave me the same feel as Beautiful Disaster toned down to 45%. It's like taking milk tea with a lot less sugar. My tummy didn't have knots but i still can't stop reading.

Tucker was a soccer superstar, man-whore and Scarlett was a math major. Tucker tur ns to her for tutoring in algebra and their romance develops from there.

I like tucker. I like that he's able to read through Scarlett and he helps her. I like that he shows us that some people act the way they do coz that's what's expected from them but also easily spots the real people and those who are just there coz he's famous. I like Scarlett coz it hurts reading through her anxiety but once she has found ways to fight it, she doesnt back down.

I hate jason! He was irritating. He's forcing his dreams on Tucker and thinks that anything not soccer related is not good.

Another light reading and its good. I loved it. It probably got me sun burnt reading it under the tiny shade the Starbucks umbrella offered me but i can't move till i finished it.

Episode: Walking Disaster by Jaime McGuire

I read beautiful disaster last December and loved it. I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this coz I tend to get bored reading basically the same story just with the guys feelings inserted. But I'm glad I did. It reminded me how I intense our boy Travis is. it made me feel his desperation and fear of losing Abby. It also explained the "WTF Travis" moments i had in Beautiful Disaster.

I loved it. I love both books. Now the story of Travis and Abby is complete.

Travis is my number 4 book boyfriend tied up with Rush of the Too Far series by Abbi Glines.

Episode: Beautiful Disaster by Jaime Mcguire

I read the filipino edition of the book and fell in love with it. This is the book that made me decide to start reading contemporary again which lead to my contemporary month last February.

This is a story about Abby and Travis. Abby moved to Penn to escape the trouble with her dad and her drunk mom. Travis is an underground fighter who doesn't do girlfriends till hr fins his pigeon.

Like a lot of stories, it starts out with Abby not wanting anything to do with Travis coz he is the type she has to avoid while Travis has this unexplainable intense attraction towards her. Yes, the main plot is common but the things that happen in between made the story unputdownable. I love Abby.  She's a bad ass. She's not whinny, she's cool, and stands her ground. Travis is hard ass adorable. I wanted to throw a bottle to his head several times but i still loved him.

I loved Travis's family. His brothers treat her as a sister coz she's dating Travis, so cute. His dad is awesome. Can't say the same for Abby's dad though. I hate him. What kind of dad blames his kid for losing his luck in poker? then he get her to pay for his huge debt!!!

Their friends were also great. Shep, Mare, Finch and the football guys. Mare was too much sometimes but everybody needs a crazy loyal friend right.

This is the first Filipino edition that I was able to finish. Filipino is my first language which is why it frustrates me when read FilEd. i always end up throwing the book to the wall coz I don't understand the words. They're in tagalog, not filipino but didn't find that problem with this book. It was easy reading.  It was kinda awkward though when i fist read Travis call Abby pigeon. It's a name so it wasn't translated to filipino,i know that, but it kinda weirded me out first few times coz my brain didn't immediately process it as a term of endearment with all the filipino words around. My problem, not the translator's.

I love this book. The title is a good match to the story. This will surely be one of my favorites this year.

episode: Shallow by Georgia Cates

I didn't think I'll say this but I like Going Under better.  I had high hopes for Payton, her smart ass mouth was too much. I rolled my eyes so many times i was afraid i'd lost control of it.

The story was OK. I thought it would get complicated when the found out Paton's mom was having an affair and Aunt Tillie turns out to be Nick's mom but it didn't.  It's really just about their relationship. I was kinda disappointed that their reaction was real life like and not like those from dramas.  No "i hate you"s, no tantrums or running away, I missed it.  Hahaha.

When it got to the part where some girl came saying her kid was Nick's, i was so hoping it was true. That would have been such a mess. It would have been more heartbreaking. But it wasn't true. I hated Payton since she found Nick told her and she got too stubborn to even listen.  The boy tried to explain several times. And by then end when they found Payton's car in Shallow, i was hoping she got murdered.  Not coz i hate her, coz it does have been exciting.
For me the title fits. Its my age probably.

Episode: Cress by Marissa Meyer

I loved Cinder for the love story,
I loved Scarlet for the action,
I loved Cress for the gigles.

Cress was so fun to read. I found myself laughing at Cress and Thorne a lot.  Cress is so innocent and Thorne is so…Thorne. Haha When Cress was running a fever and she asked Thorne to kiss her coz she was sure she was dying and she hasn’t been kissed yet and she doesn’t wanna die not experiencing that, I was like “NOOOO…you did not just say that to Thorne!!OMG OMG” and started laughing. (To my English/communications teacher, sorry for the loaded sentence.:p) That scene was my favorite.  I also LOLed when the wedding coordinator was discussing the menu while Kai was lying and covering his eyes.  Then he looked at her through his fingers.  It was torture for Kai but it was so funny.

I liked the way the story developed.  I was sad for Scarlet though.  She went through so much pain.  I hate Levana!!!  And Wolf is so cute missing his Female Alpha.  I hope Cinder gets stronger and I hope she gets some anti stress meds coz I’m kinda scared for her.  She’s been blaming herself for everything.  I’m afraid she might crack like Winter.  Winter is kinda freaky.  She scare’s me, for now.

I’m excited to see how this ends and what role Winter will play.  I hope I love her as much as Cinder, Scarlet and Cress.

Episode: Take a Chance by Abbi Glines

Grant just moved up from being my 2nd book boyfriend to number 1. Yeah, he bumped Clay (Always You). Clay’s of now 1.5 and Prince Kai moves to #2… haha

I’ve liked Grant a lot since Fallen too Far and wanted more.  Now I’ve read this, I want more more more.
I know Grant had temporary insanity, he hooked up with Nan.  Thank God he realized how wrong that was.
Take A Chance is mainly about his relationship with Harlow.  I swear I got jealous but not enough to hate Harlow.  I like Harlow but she surprised me massively in this book.  It’s not because of her secret, the ones she kept from Grant, but on how horny the girl was.  I thought she’d resist more. Hell, I wanted her to resist more but sadly, she didn’t. She tried, a bit. It was kinda funny.  After she met her mom, she was a mess so asked Grant to help her forget by doing her in the car.  I was thinking “she’s finding every excuse to get inside his pants”.  She reminded me of Riley (Always You) after she and Clay decided to be together.

I want book 2!!! I love Grant but at this point I wanna hit him in the head for what he did at the end.  I’d also wanna strangle Harlow for just leaving like that.  I can totally see how she can be Nan’s sister.  That girl is as needy as Nan, she also has a cruela side to her, she just handles it a gazillion times better.  She’s the insecure Nan version.

Episode: Under the Never Sky Veronica Rossi

I had a love hate relationship with this book.  I hated the start but nead midway through the book, I started to love it. By the end, I was so loving it.
I hated it at first coz it felt like I was missing a lot of things. I didn’t get it.  It was like I time travelled to an unknown place and time right in the middle of a war. All I wanted to do was run.  I landed on AG6 ( hope I’m not getting this wrong) not knowing what other places they had, why everything was rotten and why it seem like it’s not open to public or if there are people living there.  Then Soren and the guys started going caveman, no, it was more like ferraly insane (if the term exists hehe).  That part wasn’t really a problem since Aria didn’t understand it either.   Then I met my first disliked character, I don’t even remember her name now.  She was Aria’s best friend, the one who died.  She was whinny, it got realy irritating.  I think she was being that coz she has a thing for Soren.  Ok, I probably just made that up.  But it’s good her stint in the story was short or I would not have made it to the good parts.  Well, it was just the first chapter, so I read on.
I came to a chapter titled Peregrine.  I was so dumb I didn’t realize the nickname for Peregrine is Perry.  So while going thru the Chapter, I kept looking for a Peregrine.  Totally my fault for being dumb.  Why not call the chapters about Perry, Perry since that’s what the majority calls him? Then the Aether.  I didn’t like that I didn’t knew what it was really since I’m very much into science-y parts of stories. Geek, yes that’s me. I thought of it as the ether they taught in science class that manifests like the Aurora Borealis.  It didn’t really help much.
I guess the main problem I had was the world building.  It was built and it’s awesome but it was slowly built though out the story.  I’m impatient.  It’s not the books problem, it’s just my preference to know what I’m jumping into.
The second thing I hated in this book was Aria’s snotty-ness when she got outside.  That’s probably what being terrified would do to some people.  I just found it too much I had to put the book down several times coz I got so irritated with her.  I like tension between the male and female protagonists before the romance, I just wasn’t able to stand her.
I started to like the story when Roar showed up.  Aria started to lighten up and I began to start loving the adventure and their romance.
I haven’t mentioned Perry.  He’s great.  He has a good heart and he follows his gut.  He’s strong and fearless.  He’s just great!  I can totally see him as a Blood Lord.  I loved the way he cared for his family and friends and Aria.  He was sweet, not in the flower giving kind, but in his own way.
I read comments after reading the book and they always mentioned the romance.  It is a good romance.  It did not overpower the adventure but it was still strong.

I’ve already finished reading book 2 and I totally loved it from start to end.  This series is a great adventure with a harshly sweet romance.

Episode:Going Under by Georgia Cates

I picked the book coz of the cover and the title.  I thought it would have some paranormal stuff or it would be eerie like the books I’ve been reading this month.  But it wasn’t. It’s contemporary but I wasn’t disappointed.
It’s a high school romance about a perfect girl, rich, smart, hot, cheerleader with a quarterback boyfriend and a poor, but hot, smart guy who’s forced to sell drugs so his grandma would let him stay at the house.  It was the usual story but it was still fun, nice read.  It also had its own OMG moments, the ending. I knew Jessie wouldn’t die coz I’ve read some pages from Shallow before I started Going Under but I still went “OMG OMG OMG” after reading the last page (last page before the epilogue).
I would have liked this better if Jessie’s life was played out as hard as the Fuentes boys in Perfect Chemistry.  I would have loved to feel the danger or at least the resentment of doing something he did not really wanna do.  I also would have liked it better if they didn’t fall to fast.  Jessie wanted to steal Claire from her boyfriend and he got her but she wasn’t stolen, he had her since the first day and he easily fell for her and he dropped the idea.  Then Claire had this plan to crush Jessie, didn’t happen. It just gave her an excuse to flirt with him.  If one of those plans played out successfully, I would have liked this more.
My favorite part of the story would probably be the scenes with Jessie’s brothers.  They are adorable.  I loved Ozzy!!!
So, I don’t mention Claire much.  It’s not that I don’t like her.  She just didn’t make much impact; she was just Jessie’s love interest.  I actually liked Payton better than Claire.  Definitely gonna read Shallow.
