I read the filipino edition of the book and fell in love with it. This is the book that made me decide to start reading contemporary again which lead to my contemporary month last February.
This is a story about Abby and Travis. Abby moved to Penn to escape the trouble with her dad and her drunk mom. Travis is an underground fighter who doesn't do girlfriends till hr fins his pigeon.
Like a lot of stories, it starts out with Abby not wanting anything to do with Travis coz he is the type she has to avoid while Travis has this unexplainable intense attraction towards her. Yes, the main plot is common but the things that happen in between made the story unputdownable. I love Abby. She's a bad ass. She's not whinny, she's cool, and stands her ground. Travis is hard ass adorable. I wanted to throw a bottle to his head several times but i still loved him.
I loved Travis's family. His brothers treat her as a sister coz she's dating Travis, so cute. His dad is awesome. Can't say the same for Abby's dad though. I hate him. What kind of dad blames his kid for losing his luck in poker? then he get her to pay for his huge debt!!!
Their friends were also great. Shep, Mare, Finch and the football guys. Mare was too much sometimes but everybody needs a crazy loyal friend right.
This is the first Filipino edition that I was able to finish. Filipino is my first language which is why it frustrates me when read FilEd. i always end up throwing the book to the wall coz I don't understand the words. They're in tagalog, not filipino but didn't find that problem with this book. It was easy reading. It was kinda awkward though when i fist read Travis call Abby pigeon. It's a name so it wasn't translated to filipino,i know that, but it kinda weirded me out first few times coz my brain didn't immediately process it as a term of endearment with all the filipino words around. My problem, not the translator's.
I love this book. The title is a good match to the story. This will surely be one of my favorites this year.
