It’s so hard
to appreciate a story if you hate the characters so bad.
Ellie was
verbally abused by her drunk mom which I think is fresh. It’s a break from rape and physically abusive
relationships. The presentation of the
abuse was just too short that it didn’t make me feel the damage. Or maybe its short enough but just wasn’t
hard or harsh enough to give me that much impact. I just kept thinking, “duh, get over it
already. Just prove her wrong, drama queen!“
I liked the
insta-love between Ellie and Gunner and how their relationship developed. The
problem that I had was with the character’s character. Ellie is horny, insecure drama queen. At first, I thought I’d like her coz she
seemed tough at the beginning but after she first saw Gunner, she became this
drama queen with a major itch. Gunner
was nice and hot, at first till he got too pussy whipped, we lost the alpha
male. What I didn’t like most about them
is the repeated “cock twitching”, “leg squeezing” when they see each other. We
get it that you’re hot about each other. There wasn’t any need to repeat it
every time they see each other. Or at
least say it differently. It didn’t make
the scene hot at all. I get that falling
in love is alien to them and totally being turned on immediately after they see
each other make them feel weird (well, it is weird), but you don’t have to
repeat it all the time. It was irritating.
I liked Ari
and Jeff. I enjoyed their part more than
the main story. Ari cussed too much
though. I hope I’d like book 2.
